Cold Strikes Again

Dangerously low wind chills are once again expected tonight throughout the region. A wind chill watch is in effect. Frost bite and hypothermia can strike residents after just a short period outside. Family and friends are encouraged to check on the elderly and assist if needed. Temperatures should return closer to average this weekend.

State College Neighborhood Plan

The State College Borough Planning Commission will present a draft version of its Neighborhood Plan for residents next month. The presentation will take place at 7 pm on Thursday, February 13th at the downtown municipal building. The Neighborhood Plan details ways to develop and improve areas throughout the borough. The Plan is available online on the borough’s website.

Autoport to Change Menu

The Autoport restaurant on South Atherton Street in State College is undergoing renovations. While the motel will remain The Autoport, the adjacent restaurant will transform into Clem’s Roadside Bar and Grill. According to Statecollege.com, the menu will soon feature Clem’s BBQ, collard greens and other southern favorites. Owners hope to open the new restaurant early this week.

Thompson Re-Election Campaign

Republican U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson plans to run for re-election to Congress. Thompson represents Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional district, which includes the State College Borough. Last week, he officially announced his intentions at a news conference at the Ramada Inn Conference Center. Thompson’s stop was during a 24-stop tour through the region.
