Penn State Homecoming Parade

Penn State will hold its annual homecoming parade on Friday at 6 pm. The parade will begin in the Bryce Jordan Center parking lots at Porter and Curtain Road. Traffic will not be allowed to travel on the parade route from around 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm and parking will be restricted. The parade will wind through Penn State’s campus on Bigler Road, Pollock Road and Shortlidge Road before traveling west on College Avenue to Burrowes Road. Traffic delays are expected.

Centre Region Emergency Response

The Centre Region will benefit from more than 10-thousand dollars in state-reimbursed funding to create a local community emergency response team. According to the Centre Daily Times, the Board of Commissioners approved a grant earlier this week to establish the Centre Region Community Emergency Response Team. Members would receive training in basic emergency and fire preparedness, medical care, search and rescue and first response. All county residents will be able to participate.

Bus Accident Kills One

An overnight accident involving a Greyhound bus and tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Union County left one dead and many injured. 45 of 50 people aboard the bus were taken to the hospital with four passengers critically injured. The highway remained closed yesterday morning. Police are still investigating how the crash occurred.
