State College Borough Council

The State College Borough Council will hold a public work session tonight at 7:30 in the downtown municipal building. The borough’s planning and zoning officials will provide an overview of community and economic development goals. Additionally, the council is scheduled to evaluate amendments to the Regional Growth Boundary and Sewer Service Area Implementation.

PennDOT Road Work

PennDOT will continue road maintenance tomorrow around the area. Guiderail repairs are taking place on I-80 and I-99. Bridge work is scheduled for Forest Avenue in Marion Township. Also, crack sealing is planned for bridges on I-99 from Blair County to Port Matilda and on Bald Eagle Valley Road between Unionville and Julian.

Columbus Day Holiday

Today is Columbus Day. As with all federal holidays, many area entities are closed, making it a 3-day weekend. Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas on October 12, 1492. Since 1970, the holiday has been celebrated on the second Monday in October.
