Centre County Work

PennDOT is advising folks traveling throughout the area to use caution in several work zones throughout the week. Crack sealing is scheduled for Rattlesnake Pike in Rush Township and Bald Eagle Valley Road in Union Township. Light repairs will take place on Interstate-99 across the county throughout the week. Traffic could also be slowed by brushing on Route 64 in Spring and Walker Townships, Upper Brush Valley Road in Harris and Potter Townships and on Upper George’s Valley Road in Potter and Gregg Townships.


Mayor Election

State College mayoral candidates are jockeying for position among voters for the upcoming November election. According to the Centre Daily Times, both incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Goreham and Republican challenger Ron Madrid recognize the position’s largely ceremonial duties. Goreham says she attempts to be accessible for residents and works hard to represent the borough. Madrid says maintaining the borough’s quality life is an important part of his platform.


Online Auction Planned

An online auction to benefit Centre County’s new Child Advocacy Center will be held this week. According to Statecollege.com, graduates from Leadership Centre County are hosting the auction, in hopes of raising 10-thousand dollars. Office supply items and furniture will be auctioned off. An auction preview will be held at the Mount Nittany Medical Center on Monday from 4 to 8 pm. The auction closes Wednesday November 6th at 9 pm.
