United Way Day of Caring

Today is the 20th annual Centre County United Way Day of Caring. Volunteers from across the area will spend the morning and afternoon completing multiple service projects. According to Statecollege.com, this year’s event is sponsored by PNC Bank and is one of the largest volunteer events in the region. Participants can meet at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center at 7:30 this morning form a group breakfast and introductions. 

Sandusky Appeal Denied

Jerry Sandusky will not receive a retrial from Pennsylvania’s Superior Court. According to the Centre Daily Times, the convicted pedophile’s appeal was officially denied on Wednesday. Judges issued a 19-page opinion rejecting claims made by Sandusky’s lawyers. The decision comes just more than two weeks after oral arguments took place in a Wilkes-Barre area court. Sandusky plans to appeal to the state Supreme Court. 

Penn State Wellness Bonus

Penn State employees can receive a bonus for completing the university’s new wellness health program. According to a release, Penn State will pay $100 to each employee with a complete screening. Portions of the new program were originally mandatory, but employee backlash forced the university to alter its plans. To receive a January bonus, employees must complete the program’s requirements by November 22nd
