Conklin Hearing Tomorrow

Centre County state Representative Scott Conklin will hold a public hearing on the potential reform of Penn State’s governance tomorrow in McKeesport. The event begins at 7 pm at Penn State’s Greater Allegheny Campus. According to a release, former state Senator Robert Jubelirer is scheduled to testify on the multi-bill reform package. Conklin’s proposal includes limited the governor’s role and increasing transparency. 

Spanier Seeks Pretrial Information

Lawyers for former Penn State President Graham Spanier are seeking additional information prior to the perjury, failure to report and child endangerment charges against Spanier and two other former administrators. According to Statecollege.com, Spanier’s legal team is demanding details about former university General Counsel Cynthia Baldwin. Spanier says Baldwin violated attorney-client privilege when she testified to the Grand Jury.


State College Roadwork

Road work in the 200 block of Ellen Avenue in downtown State College could cause a few headaches today. Public works crews are repairing a sanitary sewer line in the area. Ellen Avenue will be closed between South Pugh Street and Williams Street. Work is expected to last between 7:30 am and 5 pm.
