Penn State Student Falls to Death

A 20-year-old Penn State student died early Saturday morning after a 9-story fall from a downtown apartment building balcony. Police say Conor Macmannis was pronounced dead on the scene. The incident occurred at Penn Towers Apartments located at 255 East Beaver Avenue around 3:43 a.m. Police say a preliminary investigation shows drugs and alcohol as a factor in the fall.


State College Borough Council

A busy agenda awaits the State College Borough Council for tonight’s regularly scheduled meeting. Council members are expected to approve a General Obligation borrowing of more than 9-million dollars for the Atherton Street or Pugh Streetscape project. Additionally, the contract for the service facility project will likely be approved. Discussions are also scheduled for potential amendments to the nuisance property maintenance code and the 2014 operating budget.

Wind Advisory

A Wind Advisory for State College and much of Central Pennsylvania expires this morning. A strong cold front swept through the area overnight. Temperatures will drop over the course of the week. The early forecast for Saturday’s football game is 43 degrees with showers possible. Kickoff is 3:30 at Beaver Stadium.
