Crash Sends Two to Hospital

Two people were hospitalized after a car crash yesterday in the Bellefonte Borough. The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Howard and Wilson streets. According to police, two cars collided in the intersection, causing one to overturn. The Centre Daily Times reports that two people were trapped inside the car for more than 30 minutes before being taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Police say the injuries were not serious.

Planning Commission Meeting Scheduled

The State College Borough Planning Commission will meet tonight at 7 pm in the downtown municipal building. The commission will once again review the neighborhood plans and prioritize items moving into 2014. A conditional use permit application for 106 South Atherton Street, 412 West College Avenue and 418 West College Avenue will also be evaluated. Penn Trust properties are designing a development for the area to fit the commercial incentive zoning district. 


Legislation Proposed for Penn State Board

Legislation proposed by an eastern Pennsylvania Senator could reduce the size of Penn State’s board of trustees to 23 members. According to the Centre Daily Times, Luzerne Democrat John Yudichak proposed a bill to eliminate 7 seats on the board. If approved, changes would include dropping one alumni-elected trustee and the complete removal of the university president from the board. Local state Senator Jake Corman joined Yudichak in Harrisburg yesterday as the bill was introduced.
