Spanier Seeks Motion

Former Penn State president Graham Spanier is asking a judge to have lift his out-of-state travel ban.  The ban is part of Spanier’s bail on charges in connections with his role in the Jerry Sandusky child sexually abuse case. Prosecutors from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office say they do not mind if Spanier travels for pre-approved trips. However, prosecutors don’t want District Judge William Wenner to grant Spanier a motion to travel freely. 

Geisinger and Lewistown seek possible Partnership

Geisinger Health System and Lewistown Hospital are working on options to keep the struggling 123-bed facility open. According to the Centre Daily Times, both groups signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore opportunities to work together to assist and enhance the hospital.  Lewistown Hospital is responsible for the care of more than 80,000 residents across 6 counties and employs more than 1-thousand full and part-time employees.


Bellefonte Tax Raise

A Bellefonte borough tax increase is on the table, in hopes of improving streets and police equipment. According to the Centre Daily Times, the Borough Council approved a draft of its 2013 budget, which includes an increase of about 6 dollars per month. The amount is needed to balance the borough’s 11.7 million dollar budget for next year.
