Flu Vaccines Available
Residents hoping to avoid the flu this season can receive a free vaccine this week at clinics across the state. The Pennsylvania Department of Health and public and private partners are offering free flu clinics this week. It is National Influenza Vaccination Week through Saturday as we approach another peak of flu season. The season runs from October through May with an average of five to 20 percent of the U.S. population developing the flu each year.
Deadly Crash Due to Snow
A 50 car pileup along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in eastern P-A left one person dead Sunday afternoon. Heavy snowfall led to a chain accident between the Downingtown and Morgantown interchanges around 12:30 pm. Initially, police say a driver was involved in a small wreck, but was killed after getting out of the vehicle and additional accidents occurred. The turnpike was shutdown for much of the afternoon before reopening yesterday evening.
