The State College Borough Council will meet again tonight at 7:30 in the downtown municipal building. Council members are expected to resume discussions about the potential use of Sidney Friedman Park for a fundraiser. Additionally, the 2014-2015 legislative priorities will be identified. As always, the public is encouraged to attend.


A plan to handle a growing number of Pennsylvanian’s living with Alzheimer’s and dementia is receiving praise from state health care organizations. The Pennsylvania Health Care Association / Center for Assisted Living Management commended Governor Tom Corbett late last week for the release of a state report examining the commonwealth’s disease crisis and recommendations to address it. According to a release, these include expanding financial resources, promoting brain health and cognitive fitness and enhancing support for family and non-professional caregivers.


The Pennsylvania State Police force expanded by 100 members on Friday. The men and women were presented at a State Police Academy graduation ceremony at Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg on Friday. Governor Tom Corbett and Police Commissioner Frank Noonan addressed the graduates, who will now report to assigned stations across the state.  Here are the new members representing Centre County:
