STATE THEATRE REBOUNDS
The State Theatre in downtown State College is continuing to look for ways to increase funding. At Monday night’s borough council meeting, the theater’s executive director, Greg Ray, told council the nonprofit organization had a net loss of $352,000 last year. However, according to the Centre Daily Times, Ray says the theater ended the first quarter of its new fiscal year in the black. Last year, council approved $2,000 in additional funding to the theater. The State Theatre is attempting to balance a desire for success with commitment to the local arts community.
