Snow and ice will continue to accumulate early today throughout Centre County. Total snowfall amounts are expected to range between 4 and 8 inches. PENN STATE RECEIVES BUDGET
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett’s first 2014-2015 state budget proposal provides Penn State with flat funding equivalent to the previous two years. According to Statecollege.com, the proposal grants Penn State $229.7 million dollars, despite a request from the university for an additional 5 percent appropriation. Of course, weeks of debate are next before a final budget is approved. Currently the budget allocates $1.6 billion for higher education in Pennsylvania.
FERGUSON TOWNSHIP BUDGET
Ferguson Township is providing residents with an in-depth look at its 2014 budget. The township is offering the public its 2014 Budget Executive Summary publication containing information on revenues, expenditures and goals. According to Statecollege.com, the report highlights cost-per-resident breakdowns for township services. It is available online on the Ferguson Township website or in print at township offices.
COLLEGE HEIGHTS SCHOOL DECISION
The State College Borough Council held preliminary discussions on the sale of the College Heights School on North Atherton Street Monday night. However, council ultimately opted to wait on making a decision until a future work session. The borough holds a right of first refusal for the property. Last month, the State College Area School District announced Penn State was interested in purchasing the building for $400,000.
