An ESPN The Magazine article detailing Mike McQueary’s role in the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal reveals the former Penn State assistant football coach faced sexual abuse as a child. The story is apart of the upcoming Magazine issue. It outlines McQueary’s testimony to the Grand Jury and conversations between McQueary and former coach Joe Paterno. Friends of the former coach and quarterback also disclosed information on McQueary’s compulsive gambling habits while a player at Penn State.


CENTRAL PA FOOTBALL FOUNDATION

The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame will honor 45 local high school seniors later this month. The chapter’s 17th annual banquet will take place on Sunday, March 23rd. Penn State football coach James Franklin will provide the keynote address. At least 33 of the student-athletes will receive a $1,000 college scholarship for outstanding achievements. Among those being honored: State College Area High School’s Patrick Irwin, Philipsburg-Osceola’s Nicholas Boumerhi, Mifflin County’s John Michael Maclay, Bellefonte’s Jacob Martin and Central Mountain’s Tyler Pavalko


FORMER PSU ADMIN DIES

Former Penn State Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Ellen Perry passed away on Tuesday. She was a member of the Penn State Athletics staff as a coach or administrator from 1966 until June, 2002. Perry helped grow women’s sports programs and Penn State and nationwide. She was 72.

PA LIQUOR BOARD GAMBLING LICENSE

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board could award its first Tavern Gaming License later today. Officials will vote on the application submitted by an Adams County establishment at 11 am today in Harrisburg. The law permits certain liquor license holders to offer small games of chance. Officials expected thousands of applications, but received fewer than 10, casting doubt on the program’s future.
