Bellefonte Meeting Change

Those attending Bellefonte Borough Council meetings will now have an opportunity to weigh in after the night’s discussions conclude. According to the Centre Daily Times, council is trying a new system permitting public comment in the beginning and end of the meetings if an unexpected topic arises. Council will institute the new practice on a six-month trial. Also, members can now sign a code of conduct instituting guidelines to improve meeting practices.

Coaches Caravan Returns

New Penn State football head coach James Franklin will embark on a 17-stop caravan across Pennsylvania and neighboring states in May. The popular Penn State Coaches Caravan returns in 2014 with stops planned in 13 Pennsylvania locations and Baltimore, New Jersey, New York City and Washington D.C. Unlike previous years, State College will host the first stop. The in town event is scheduled for May 1st. Additional details will be available soon.

State College Roadwork

Westview Avenue between Fairway Road and Franklin Street in State College will be closed today due to roadwork. Public Works Crews will make repairs to a sanitary sewer line in the 500 block. Work is scheduled between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm.

PA Veteran's License

Qualified Pennsylvania Veterans can now receive a special designation on state driver’s licenses and identification cards. Governor Tom Corbett launched the new program earlier this week. An American flag with the word “Veteran” appears on the front of the license or identification card. The designation is applied with no additional fees.
