In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Matt Sandusky, told Oprah that his father had a bedtime “ritual.” In a clip of the interview released by the Oprah Winfrey Network, The Associated Press says Sandusky also described grooming, methodical control and manipulation by his father. The full interview will air tonight at 9pm on the Network.
Despite a push for several improvements, Pennsylvania roads are still some of the worst in the country, according to a report by the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute. PA roads rank 34th, with about 13 deaths per one billion miles driven. The national average is just under 10. Despite the bad numbers, Pennsylvania’s number of fatalities on the road dropped by nearly 19 percent.
Penn State World Ranking
Penn State has improved its ranking nationally. According to a release from the university, Penn State moved up 4 spots in the latest Center For World University Rankings to number 46 globally and 29th nationally among all U.S. colleges and universities. In the rankings, 229 institutions were honored in the United States, with 8 Big Ten universities placed in the top 50. Harvard topped the list, with Stanford, MIT, Cambridge and Oxford rounding out the top 5.
Pennsylvania is one of the states included in a settlement with Apple. Attorney General Kathleen Kane confirmed yesterday that the Commonwealth is one of 33 states that will be receiving money from an e-book price fixing conspiracy, pending approval by the U.S. District Court. According to WTAJ-TV, consumers are set to receive about $400 million in settlement money.
Increased Court Fees
Governor Corbett has signed into law legislation to increase the amount of legal aid for low income Pennsylvanians. The measure increases the surcharge on court filing fees by $1 from $3-$4. The increase is expected to generate as much as 2 point 5 million dollars for legal services benefiting low income individuals.
Dogs Pulled From Car
Charges are pending against a Huntingdon County couple after Humane Society officers pulled two dogs from a car that was more than 90 degrees. The dogs were found in a car parked at the Logan Town Centre yesterday. The canines are ok and are at the humane society.
