July 4th Fireworks

State College Police are expecting heavy traffic near Beaver Stadium on Thursday evening for the annual 4th Fest fireworks display. The show is scheduled to start at 9:20 pm. No significant changes will be made for folks driving to the area. However, after the show, traffic on Park Avenue and Porter Road will be one-way, resembling a Penn State football game. Parking is not allowed along the Mt. Nittany Expressway, Interstate 99 or Orchard Road.

Spanier Requests Bail Change

Former Penn State president Graham Spanier is asking a judge for looser bail restrictions, allowing him to travel abroad. Currently, Spanier is only permitted to travel within the United States with prior court approval. Spanier’s lawyers are arguing that widespread travel is required for his profession and does not jeopardize his appearance at legal proceedings. Spanier is facing criminal charges for an alleged cover-up of complaints against former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
