Penn State Trustees Meet

Penn State president Rodney Erickson is asking the state for an additional $14.7 million to account for faculty and staff salary increases, employee benefits and student aid. Erickson formally announced his request on Friday at the University’s Board of Trustees meeting. It was just one of many topics discussed during the meeting. Public comments were wide-ranging and often critical of the board. 

Five Guys Trespassing

A 21-year-old man is facing felony trespassing charges after harassing employees at the State College Five Guys restaurant late Friday night. According to the Centre Daily Times, Michael Ward entered the store around 11:40 p.m. while workers were closing the store. Police say Ward damaged items in the restaurant and went behind the counter to yell at staff. Later, police officers used pepper spray to control Ward. Police believe he was drunk.

Road Updates

Folks driving through the intersection of Elmwood Street at East College Avenue in College Township will now be required to yield. A yield sign will be added on Wednesday at 10 a.m. From that point on, fraffic turning right from East College Avenue onto Elmwood Street must yield.

 Road work in the 700 block of Hillcrest Avenue between Glenn Road and the cul-de-sac in State College could cause slight delays this week. Crews are fixing a storm sewer line the area. Work will last from 7:30 am until 5 pm through Friday.
