A DISTRICT JUDGE IN CENTRE COUNTY YESTERDAY ORDERED 53 YEAR OLD FREDERICK RICE OF Harrisburg TO STAND TRIAL AFTER HE WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING. FERGUSON TOWNSHIP POLICE EVACUATED SEVERAL HOMES EARLIER THIS MONTH WHEN THEY DISCOVERED RICE HAD A 1 FOOT LONG HOMEMADE PIPE bomb in his vehicle PARKED ALONG WYANDOTTE LANE. HE TOLD POLICE HE believed his wife was having an affair with another man AND HE WANTED TO blow HIM up.

 

former state college doctor Richard Lenhart is in the centre county prison charged with having sex with at least 2 of his former patients and committing insurance fraud over several years. state attorney general kathleen kane’s office says he pocketed more than 70-thousand dollars from insurance companies after performing his so-called “touching therapy”.  the acts allegedly took place while lenhart’s wife was working in the next room as his secretary.
Lenhart’s license was revoked last year after he admitted to the acts before the state’s Board of Psychology. Anyone with information about lenhart’s practice is asked to call Special Agent Doug Hilyard at 717-787-0272.

Officials are asking for the public's help keeping a foreign species of beetle out of the state. the Asian Longhorned Beetle could affect lumber, pulp and maple syrup production AND IT’S already living in New Jersey, New York and Ohio.

The beetle is about an inch long, with a black glossy body, white spots on the wings black and bluish-white antennae. 

Suspected sightings should be reported to badbug@state.pa.us.

 

The 140th Annual Grange Fair officially kicks off today in centre hall. One day admission costs $6.00 with a season ticket rate of $15.00. Pets are not permitted on the Grange Fairgrounds or in the camping area. Roughly 950 tents, 1300 RV’s and 7,000 exhibits are expected. Heavy traffic is anticipated in the surrounding area.
