Furloughed federal workers will start returning to work thIS morning. YESTERDAY, President Obama signed legislation ending the partial shutdown of the federal government. Bipartisan legislation passed by the Senate and House funds government operations through mid-January and extends the federal debt limit into early February. IN A STATEMENT, U.S. Senator Bob Casey SAID “I hope this experience will help change the tone in Washington and that members on both sides of the aisle will refocus their efforts on creating jobs and strengthening the economy.”

ONE TEENAGER HAS DIED AND 3 OTHERS REMAIN HOSPITALIZED after a crash in Clearfield County Tuesday afternoon. The Blair County Coroner confirms 16 YEAR OLD Autumn Mulhollen Of Westover died Wednesday morning AT UPMC ALTOONA. the names AND conditions of the other 3 HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED. They were all juniors and on the basketball team at Harmony High School WHERE GRIEF COUNSELORS ARE ON DUTY. The crash happened along Westover Road in Chest Township WHEN THE KIDS’ SPEEDING PICKUP hit a tree and rolled OVER twice.

PENNSYLVANIA’S HIGHEST SPEED LIMIT IS 65 MILES PER HOUR, BUT REPUBLICAN Senator Joe Scarnati OF Jefferson County is proposing RAISING the limit to 70 on the turnpike and interstates. 34 states ACROSS THE COUNTRY currently have maximum speed limits at 70 miles per hour or higher. AFTER THE NEWS BROKE THAT HE HAD SETTLED WITH OTHER YOUNG MEN WHO SAID HE MOLESTED THEM IN YOUNGTOWN OHIO…BAKER COMMITTED SUICIDE AT SAINT BERNADINE’S MONASTERY IN HOLLIDAYSBURG. some of the civil lawsuits APPEAR TO BE HEADED FOR SETTLEMENTS.

FROM CENTRE COUNTY, FERGUSON TOWNSHIP POLICE Officer Travis Park IS GAINING INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION. HE received THE Crisis Intervention Team Officer of the Year Award at A CONFERENCE THIS WEEK IN HARTFORD CONNECTICUT. Park, a 7 year veteran of the township police department, is the first Pennsylvania officer to receive a C-I-T International Award.
